Camp’s Countdown: My Top 10 Rides at Walt Disney World (And Yes, You Might Disagree)
Ask ten Disney fans their favorite rides at Disney World and you will get ten different lists. Put those ten Disney fans in a room and ask them to compare rankings, and you are almost guaranteed a few passionate debates.
Everyone has strong Disney opinions. Some based on nostalgia. Some based on thrill. But all based on personal experience.
What is Camp’s Countdown?
This is where I will weigh in on Disney’s biggest debates and rank everything from rides, food, experiences, and beyond.
Your list might look completely different, and that’s the fun of it. I want to know when you agree and, more importantly, when you disagree.
So let’s kick things off with one of the most debated topics…
The best ride at Walt Disney World.
How I Ranked These
Several factors went into how I ranked these rides.
First, I considered the ride experience. How interactive and engaging is the queue? What kind of thrill does the attraction provide? Does the storytelling immerse me in its world? And how unique is the overall experience?
Then I looked at how re-ridable each attraction is. Is this a one-and-done ride? Could I ride this over and over and not get bored?
I also reflected on the emotional and nostalgic factor that each ride holds for me personally.
And lastly, I thought carefully about that hard-to-explain Disney magic each attraction creates.
After debating all of those factors (for quite a while, because narrowing this list down was surprisingly difficult), I finally landed on my top ten rides in all of Walt Disney World.
So without further ado…
Let the Countdown Begin

10. Kilimanjaro Safaris
Starting out in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Kilimanjaro Safaris.
I never get tired of this one because this may be the closest I ever come to going on a safari ride through the African savanna. Every trip is unique and you never know which animals you are going to get to see or what they will be doing. The fact that you get to be that close to such beautiful creatures is definitely the reason this one made the list.
Most people run to Flight of Passage to start their day, but I want to make sure the safari is one of my first stops so that I can see the animals at their liveliest.
9. Test Track
I know some of you are already typing comments because Test Track made my top ten, but hear me out.
Located in World Discovery at Epcot, this ride gives you the thrill of learning how new technology is shaping the world around us before racing around the track.
One thing that always makes me smile is feeling like I’m racing around in a convertible. I know that there is not much to this ride besides that, and maybe it’s nostalgia that keeps it on the list, but my family and I always have so much fun when we ride this one.
When we took my Nana on it for her 80th birthday she giggled the whole time, and still claims it’s her favorite ride. How could something that brings joy like that not make the list?
Now listen, this next one surprised even me.
8. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Now listen, truly I love to hate and hate to love this ride, but I can’t deny how fun Tower of Terror is.
Over in Hollywood Studios at the end of Sunset Boulevard, you find the Hollywood Tower Hotel straight out of the Twilight Zone. You literally ride on an elevator-style lift and are rocketed up and down on what some (me) would probably consider one of the scariest rides at Walt Disney World.
You may be asking, ‘Emilee, if it’s one of the scariest rides, why is it on your top 10 list?’ and I don’t know that I can truly answer that. I’m telling you this one terrifies me but somehow I can’t help but laugh and scream the entire ride.

7. Guardians of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Back to World Discovery in Epcot, my number 7 ride is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
With the spinning and screens, I know this one isn’t for everyone, but I thought it was so much fun when I rode it that I knew it would be one of my favorites. I think the only reason it didn’t make it higher is simply the fact that it is still so new, but it made it this far, so that should tell you something about how much I enjoy it.

6. Space Mountain
Moving to Magic Kingdom, in Tomorrowland is probably the most nostalgic ride for me. I’ve always loved roller coasters and this has been one of my favorites since I can remember riding it. Because, on paper, there’s not much to it besides being a dark coaster, I didn’t feel like I could put it higher. But let me tell you, the fun I had on it with my mom and cousin when it was completely dark during Micky’s Not So Scary Halloween Party really made me want to move it up on my list!

5. Living with the Land
Yes, Living with the Land is this high and I will defend it every time.
World Nature in Epcot hosts one of the most relaxing and informative rides in all of Walt Disney World. You get a look behind the curtain of Disney’s greenhouses and fish farms and learn how far farming has come. I absolutely love Living with the Land now that I’m an adult and my Nana has given me an appreciation for gardening. So getting to see the techniques Disney uses to produce food and seeing the crops they grow is pretty cool.
But I fear my adventure-seeking side beat out my inquisitive side as we move on in the list.
4. Jungle Cruise
Back in Magic Kingdom, but over in Adventureland is probably one of the funniest rides in the park. I will forever be a fan of the dad jokes, and Jungle Cruise skippers are the kings/queens of them! Half the fun is wondering what jokes your skipper is going to tell. Not to mention you get to see the 8th Wonder of the World on this boat tour.
Now we’re getting into the rides that I don’t know if I will ever be able to skip.
3. Expedition Everest
This is about the only way you will ever catch me climbing to the top of Mount Everest, but I truly believe I have more fun on this roller coaster than I ever would actually hiking the world’s tallest mountain. I love running from the Yeti all the way back down the mountain.
When I add in the fact that this was the first roller coaster my husband agreed to go on with me and he ended up loving it, I can’t deny that it has to be in my top 3. You can find this super fun, surprising coaster in Asia at Animal Kingdom.
2. Toy Story Mania
I don’t have a competitive side until it comes to a low-stakes silly game, and Toy Story Mania fits that bill perfectly. Every time we walk into Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, we are heading straight towards this ride, and I know I’m going to walk out laughing at how we ended up scoring on the ride.
Don’t ask my husband, but I swear I win almost every time. And if I don’t, the game has to be rigged, right?
Honorable Mentions
There are a couple rides that really tripped me up and almost messed with the entire order of the list, but these are my honorable mention rides.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
I would argue that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is one of the best coasters I have ever ridden. The speed, the loops, the thrill. It has it all.
If not for the update, my list would have been a lot harder to make. I still think I will love this ride, and eventually it may make it back on the list. But since I haven’t ridden the updated version and I’m not the biggest fan of the Muppets, I just couldn’t justify it making the top 10.

Mission Space
If my brother went with us to Disney every time we went and he talked me into riding Mission Space yet again, this one might make my top 10 list. I can’t explain the panic he induces on our ride, nor the laughter that follows when he’s screaming that we aren’t pressing our buttons fast enough or doing the job (of again, pressing buttons) correctly. It really makes it fun for everyone that ends up on our mission, just simply due to how hilarious he is. Unfortunately, he won’t come more than every few years with us so I couldn’t rationalize this one ending up on the list.
1. Avatar Flight of Passage
I loved Avatar when it originally came out, and when I first visited Pandora at Animal Kingdom I felt like I was actually transported into the movie. Then when I got to ride one of the banshees for the first time I knew no other ride would ever compare.
From the sights and smells to the breath of the banshee, I was hooked. I can’t even begin to describe the thrill I get of riding through the skies of Pandora getting to pretend for a few short minutes that I am a Na’vi.
Many rides have tried to capture the 4D experience, but none have lived up to Avatar Flight of Passage.
This is my number one ride because I felt like all the criteria I set were surpassed when I considered this ride. The queue feels like I’m walking through the lab in order to become a Na’vi. The ride is thrilling and transports me to the world of Pandora so well that I forget that I’m not actually soaring through the skies. I feel like I could ride this one over and over again and never get bored.
Disney truly outdid itself with this ride, and, though my other rides on this list may shift through different seasons of my life, it’s going to be hard to dethrone Avatar Flight of Passage.
This is just the beginning – because narrowing anything down at Disney is never as easy as it sounds.
Next time on Camp’s Countdown, we might be ranking Epcot pavilions… or maybe transportation options. You’ll just have to wait and see.
Save this list and come back after your next trip – see if your rankings change. Now tell me… What’s your #1 ride? What Disney World ride did I get completely wrong?
